The crystal waters offer the best underwater views hands down. There’s really no better place to scuba dive than in the waters near Catalina Island, just a short boat ride from Flamingo. As a matter of fact, the waters are so bountiful that the town has even organizes a sportfishing competition once a year. The fishing off the shores of Flamingo offer plenty of catch and release opportunities for Marlin and Sailfish, and snag a Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado (Mahi-Mahi), Red Snapper, Roosterfish, and other delicious fish. Here is a list of some of the options available for fun in Flamingo: Sportfishing Many of the boats who leave Flamingo take advantage of the area’s scuba diving, an activity that is noted worldwide for the clear water opportunities to see sea life. And, recently, construction has been ongoing on a beautiful new marina for recreational boats and fishing vessels that launch from Flamingo into the blue ocean waters. People are drawn to Flamingo for its pristine, white sand beach with very calm waves. As a result, we know pretty much every activity a homeowner or vacationer might want to do while in the area, located on the Northwest coast on the Pacific Ocean. They only take small groups which results in the best tailored service, and you’re not fighting for space among a bunch of other divers.Flamingo has something for everybody, and Costa Rica Real Estate is based in the residential and commercial community of Playa Flamingo. ![]() Their level of professionalism and patience makes the whole experience seamless. In a nutshell, the Tamadive crew go way and beyond for their “Tamadivers”. We were always met back at the boat with Capitan Pedro's happy music and a bunch of snacks, water, soda, and the most delicious sweet fresh pineapple! He said the thing about diving “It’s all about looking cool”, and he absolutely did make me look cool! (Photos to prove!).Īntoine was even cooler! During our 3 minute stops he would entertain us with his bubble tricks, and underwater acrobatics! He taped me swimming right through a small school of fish, big enough to be surrounded on all sides so I have the souvenir. I bought a cheap AKASO 7000 underwater camera for under $80 for the trip on Amazon which did the trick (photoshopped the photos after -) Capitan Pedro was nice enough to pull a “Macgyver” and created a leash for the camera which I recommend! Buy a leash or make one! And be conscious of dropping anything that might need to be recovered by the crew!Īntoine was kind enough to take photos and videos for me with my camera throughout the dive so I can re-live the moments. ![]() I sadly witnessed coral with the tips starting to bleach, and not nearly as much sea life as when I first went diving out of Diving Safaris in Ocotal beach back in the early The temperature at 60 feet was so warm no need for wetsuits. On the way back the second day there was some kind of seagull that just hovered above the front of the boat as if leading it full speed until it took a turn and dove into the water for a fish!Īside from the turtles and whales, while diving I saw: a White Tip Shark, Giant Moray Eel, Spotted Moray Eels, Trigger Fish, Sea Urchins, Fan Coral, Parrotfish, Trumpetfish, Pufferfish, King Angelfish, Baby Octopus, Rockfish, Moorish Idols, Porcupine Fish and some huge fish as well! The 2 rides there and back were beautiful! We ran into a mamma whale and her baby whale that briefly surfaced a couple times before moving on. Then, its capitan Pedro took us onward to Islas Catalinas. Arriving at the beach, we went out on a smaller boat to “El Hippocampus". I rented a car so the second day, I took the option to drive to the beach following the crew in my car in order to explore the area and not have to go back to the dive shop after the dive. They said they are attracted to the divers by the bubbles, but we didn’t see any Manta Rays this time. We did Catalina Main, and Roca Sucia the first day and then 2 different drops at Catalina Main the second day in search of a Mantaray that one of the other boats spotted. I did 4 dives with Tamadive in Islas Catalinas with Franko, Antoine, Remo, and Frederico who was a volunteer from Argentina. Obviously, safety is not an option with these guys!!! I felt like I couldn’t have felt safer or in better hands the whole entire time! ![]() Met with delicious coffee at the dive shop with the other fellow divers for a briefing and going over safety and hand signals. With my attention deficit disorder I, I forgot my NAUI card in my room. For some reason they could not find it in the system, so Franko had to drive me back to the hotel to get it. Great 4 dives with Tamadive! First day, I was picked up exactly on time at The Wyndham Tamarindo, just 5 minutes up the road from the dive shop.
