At any difficulty level you can choose to enable Easier Start which provides you with more neutral planets with free tech. Sub Commanders are not impacted by difficulty. but yer, just not feeling this, it feels clunky, ai is bad, units get stuck on each other constantly, attack command is +- ignored the idea of the area attack is awesome always a big fan off more intelligent ai in rts's but it just doesn't work well here, idea is good but doesn't function well. Install this mod via the Planetary Annihilation: TITANS in-game Community Mod manager. but well just not for me i guess (should be though i am a big fan of a lot of rts and supreme commander is one of my all time favorit rts's. Yer can't get into this at all really tried giving it a chance, still feel its not fun. apparently they renamed it to "Reclaim" bc the other terms won't fancy enough and doesnt seem like wall can be reclaimed either but how would we know this game seems to STILL be notoriously crappy in its explanation of everything and its Not like their concept are hard to get ones you know wtf is going on so a 5 min toturial from a competent person would teach you all so yer. Honestly i remmember playing this for 15minutes in beta hating how everything is just the badly explained ever and shut it down, now playing for 15 minutes i am about to shut it down again for the same reason you know those who doesnt have any way to make doors and which you can't attack orders etc.
